Still not feeling too good today. But still have a nice day π
I have an exciting Theory Class today. our homework is to work on 8 bars chords progression that includes the technique we’ve learned in class. Secondary dominant, deception dominant, subsitute, modal, etc.
Mine is relatively simple. just using substitute to create E -> C chromatic movement, and borrow a I VI II V from Eb Maj (Cm). but deceptive at the end, II V does not go to Cm but C Maj. at last, used a secondary dominant to go back to the first chord E-7. although its simple but it sound beautiful and key-vagued in the middle which I really like.

Other people in the class got some serious stuff. like Simone have borrowed a chord from Phrygian mode.. and used some backdoor dominant which I have no idea what that is.

also, this guy’s piece is insane. we are all doing II V I but change it a little, he almost breaks all the rules. you can’t find any II V I inside but it sounds awesome.

After Theory and Musicianship classes, I have my Private Lessons. Professor John Baboian gives me some interesting stuff.
My current weakness is chord variation, so Professor Baboian gave me an assignment to get used to different inversions and play diatonic tones through them.
At night, Playing “Skate” with Sherdyl, Simone, Miklos, Edwin, and Bella. I fugged up, ah… I’m playing cautious so I hope people didn’t notice, but i didn’t do well.
It reminds me of what my teacher told me before: you should always respect the stage and be alert and prepared.
