Waking up this morning and stepping outside, I was greeted by an absolutely breathtaking sky and mountain view. We arrived back late last night and hadn’t realized just how beautiful our surroundings were.

After brewing some coffee in our cozy cabin using the provided machine, we headed to the supermarket to pick up supplies for the day—breakfast and lunch to keep us energized for our Yellowstone adventure.

With our provisions sorted, we finally set off into Yellowstone! Even early in the morning, there was traffic, but with the right company and stunning scenery, we didn’t mind taking it slow.

As soon as we entered the park, we discovered the reason for the traffic jam: everyone had stopped to look at a bear! A beautiful, adorable wild bear was roaming nearby. It was unbelievably cute—the perfect start to our day.

Celestine Pool and Mushroom Soup
Our first stop was Celestine Pool. Walking along the boardwalk, we passed several steaming hot springs. The cool morning air mixed with the warm steam felt incredibly soothing. Further along, we came across a turquoise hot spring. Its vivid blue color was so bright, pure and beautiful.

Continuing on, we arrived at a spot we all loved: “Mushroom Soup.” This whimsical area had a unique charm that captured our hearts. There was even a playful recipe sign for the “soup”! It was such a delightful and memorable place.

There is recipe of how to made this.

A random geyser at the same spot.
The Grand Prismatic Spring
After that, we drove slowly to today’s highlight: Grand Prismatic Spring. Due to the crowds, we parked farther away, which gave us the chance to take a leisurely walk along a small creek. The steam from the Grand Prismatic Spring was visible even from a distance.

a cute cloud draw by Pon.

Walking here is hard to describe. You’re completely immersed in nature’s palette—the temperature, the smells, the sounds of the streams and steam, the sparse crowds, and the occasional animal sounds. Surrounded by mist and vast landscapes, you feel your mind slowly transforming, becoming more natural, elegant, and attuned to the beauty around you.

an interesting side story. we met another crew three time lol. it makes us start to say hi and have a conversation.

and, we arrived the Grand Prismatic Spring 🙂

According to what we learned:
“The Grand Prismatic Spring is one of Yellowstone National Park’s most famous geothermal features and the largest hot spring in the United States. It’s renowned for its vivid rainbow colors, which result from different types of thermophilic bacteria living in the mineral-rich waters. The center of the spring is deep blue, gradually transitioning to green, yellow, orange, and red as it extends outward. These unique colors are determined by the water’s temperature and mineral content, making it a spectacular natural wonder that attracts countless visitors.”
We spent a long time here, soaking it all in.

Old Faithful and Serendipitous Moments
Afterward, we headed to our next destination: Old Faithful. The name intrigued us, and we looked up its origin, finding it endearingly amusing.
“Old Faithful got its name because of its consistent and reliable eruptions. Since its discovery in 1870, it has erupted at relatively regular intervals, approximately every 90 minutes. This predictable behavior made it one of Yellowstone National Park’s most famous and beloved attractions. Visitors can watch its spectacular eruptions according to the predicted times, hence the affectionate name ‘Old Faithful.’”
Upon arrival, we explored the nearby hotel and gift shops. Yichen was excited to try Huckleberry ice cream, which is pretty great! We also spotted a cute little squirrel outside. I picked up some souvenirs—a pin I really liked, a high-quality bison magnet, and a set of postcards.

We strolled around, waiting for Old Faithful’s next eruption. When it happened, it was truly a sight to behold.
After the eruption, we discovered a nice trail on the other side and decided to hike up. We found a spot at the top and, in true fashion, played a round of our favorite board game.

Wildlife Encounters and Evening Relaxation
On the way back, we drove leisurely. Along the road, we spotted a large bison—majestic and beautiful in its own rugged way. We even saw a wolf! We were incredibly fortunate to see so much wildlife on this trip.
Returning to the town, we stayed again in West Yellowstone, in the same lovely cabin as before. We picked up pizza and finally tried the special dish we’d seen at the Chinese restaurant a few days ago: venison.

That evening, we played games and enjoyed dinner together in the cabin. Afterward, Yachun and I took a walk outside, seizing a moment in the darkness that belonged just to us.

This day was filled with incredible natural beauty and cherished moments with friends. From the adorable bear greeting us in the morning to the awe-inspiring sights of the Grand Prismatic Spring and Old Faithful, and a perfect romantic night. it’s a day I’ll never forget.
