Day 168. Final Day at Yellowstone & Journey to SF: Bittersweet Goodbyes

Morning Reflections & Farewell to Yellowstone:

Today marks our last day exploring the beautiful landscapes of Yellowstone. Most of our time was spent on the road, as we had a long drive to the airport ahead of us. After yesterday’s chaotic drive with Happy, I was still feeling a bit frustrated. Thankfully, Ya Chun was there to keep me company and lift my spirits. We started the day with a simple hotel breakfast.

A Serene River Stop:

On our way to the airport, we stumbled upon a picturesque river. We decided to stop and take a walk. To our surprise, there were people fishing right in the middle of the river, despite the freezing temperatures. It was both impressive and slightly terrifying!

The Unforgettable Bison Encounter:

We hit the road again, only to be greeted by a massive herd of bison. Luckily, we had started our journey early enough to have time to take it all in. The sight was breathtaking, especially when we spotted a bison playfully rolling on the ground — truly adorable.

must say, the happiest moments during this trip have been these close encounters with wildlife. There’s something magical about seeing these magnificent creatures up close.

From Yellowstone to San Francisco:

After our eventful drive, we finally reached the airport. The rest of the day involved navigating airports, waiting, and resting before our connecting flight to San Francisco. The transition back to city life felt a bit surreal after the vast, open landscapes of Yellowstone.

Arriving in San Francisco:

Touchdown in SF was met with an unexpected chill. I handed over all logistical responsibilities to Happy — it’s his turn now. He seemed a bit flustered at first, probably because he was suddenly thrust into the role of managing our plans. We arrived at our hotel, only to find it quite cramped. But it’s cozy enough for a good night’s rest after a long day.

Sensing Happy’s slight anxiety, I gave him some space. He even went out on his own to scout the area for tomorrow’s transport. I’m glad to see him stepping up and taking responsibility.
