The Airbnb project has been weighing on my mind lately, and it’s brought up some reflections on my decision-making. I feel like I need to clarify my approach—knowing when to play it safe and when to take bold risks. The key is to not get stuck in the middle.
I’m reminded of my earlier investment in Fomo Dog, where I initially saw success but ended up losing around NT$5 million because I didn’t set a clear exit strategy. Greed got the best of me, and I failed to account for the risk-to-reward ratio. In MatchNova, I made a NT$3 million profit but ended up giving most of it back. In the end, I was left with only a modest NT$100k gain. Although it was painful, I managed to cut my losses in time, which felt like progress.
With the Airbnb project, I’ve once again identified an opportunity and boldly secured a room. But the process of finding tenants hasn’t been as smooth as I’d hoped.
Recital
After a bit of work this morning, I went with Pon to watch a recital. It only featured five songs, which wrapped up quickly. Compared to Pon’s usual performances of 30 songs, it felt so short! It reminded me that my own sets usually only have two to four songs… sigh.
In the afternoon, I headed to Javista to get some work done, where I ran into Ryan, Diana, Amy, Boran, and Roger—they seem to be friends of Pon.
Later in the evening, I spent some time pushing out more content on Xiaohongshu, though I’m unsure if it’s helping out to sell my aribnb or not. But I’ll give it a try anyway.. I also started practicing guitar, but I didn’t finish—ended up falling asleep mid-practice. Thankfully, I managed to finish up the next day.
Music Practice and a Mandarin Pop Gig
Pon and I sang a bit at home tonight. He’s preparing for a Mandarin pop gig, and it was fun to join him in the preparation. This day was a mix of reflection, work, and music—a reminder to keep balancing risks, opportunities, and the things that bring me joy.
