Day 95. Reflection and Studying on the Brand. Another Solid Step to the Brand. (I’m Proud.)

Today, I’m aiming to break the obstacle between me and my dream. I’m stopped by an invincible force preventing me from creating music. I feel I’m sucked and depressed all the time when it comes to creation.

First, I cut out all the easy addictions. I deleted my games on my phone, and decided my life would be focused only on “Music, Brand, Life Building.”

I have to cut out all easy pleasure, cause creating an aesthetic music brand is way too hard for me right now and it is too easy to give up, to switch to cheap pleasure if I still have access to them.

These actions and mindsets have built up a calm, successful progress for today.

Build up the cornerstone.

I write down my goal and the image that I want to become. this brand is just a leverage for me to earn money and support my music live. what I want to be is create unique and really melodic music like Tom Misch, FKJ, and those old Jazz Legends.

Analyze the key point of their success or the key quality that I want to obtain. and than I ran into this video.

It’s such a great video that several people taking about their study on FKJ and his musicianship. Not endlessly praise him but truly try to study by their observation.

There is an interesting insight that caught my eye. “FKJ only release 20 songs in 8 years and maybe just 11 or 12 videos. but each one is curated.”

yeah, this method can be disagreed. but it’s a way to see how he gets to his place.

Of course, your music must be good and unique in the first place(which is not necessary to be hard.) But most importantly you have to own a viral video.

His video and his shots are very cinematic. it can be planned and it might be a low-hanging fruit to grab. you could bring your gear and music, rent an aesthetic place, and really curate your film.

Aside from these things, music is still core and the topic of how to produce good music is all over YouTube.

Observation on my Own Obstacle

I have been learning marketing, coding, and business for a fair amount of time. som I am able to assemble a project fast. however, music production is something that I’m totally not familiar with. if I don’t pay attention to this gap between me and a fine-tuned piece, the abyss there will consume me.

I need to be patient, slow down, and pay for 5~20 hours at least to learn the basics, mad a fundamental map for myself to navigate. If don’t, I’ll constantly be stressed and lost in all aspects of producing.

Today’s 2-hour research has already given me a clearer path that the past few months haven’t given me. and it is thanks to my dedication, clearing all the easy pleasure off so I could really calm down and make that 1st learning step.

I’m proud of myself today.
